Today Chancellor George Osborne has announced that plans to build a new University Technical College in Hull will go ahead. The UTC will help meet a surge in demand for skilled young people in the Hull area, following a boost in the local economy.
The Ron Dearing UTC will open its doors in September 2016, and will meet the growing need for more young people with engineering skills in the local area. The UTC will specialise in Digital Technology and Mechatronics, and at capacity will be able to educate 600 students.
The team at Educate were instrumental in the development of the application to the Department for Education to secure the go-ahead for this UTC.
Tom Goldsmith, Co-Author of the Bid commented: “We were happy to be asked to support the Ron Dearing UTC in submitting the bid to the Department of Education, and we are even more delighted that the project has received the green light.
“The Ron Dearing UTC will be a great asset to the local community in Hull.”
