Would you like to know more about Initial Teacher Training? Come along to our open day

Would you like to know more about the Initial Teacher Training options available? Come along to our information day and evening on Tuesday 3rd March 2015.

As a local provider of Initial Teacher Training for the last 15 years, we are holding an information day at our new premises in Grantham on Tuesday 3rd March 2015. We would like to invite you to come along and find out more about the options for initial teacher training and the potential of hosting a trainee in your school. Our offices and training facilities will be open from 8.30am to 6pm (with a scheduled meeting at 4.30pm) and you are very welcome to join us for the meeting or at any other time, as you wish. Refreshments will be provided. Our team will be available to talk about anything you wish to regarding teacher training, but there will be a focus on:

  • Initial Teacher Training: Routes and Options;
  • Educate Initial Teacher Training Programmes: SCITT and School Direct;
  • How your school can be involved;
  • Developing ITT partnerships and school-led provision;
  • PGCE and QTS.

The evening meeting will be an opportunity to network with other head teachers and stakeholders in the local area. It will begin at 4.30pm with a presentation, followed by Q&A and networking between 5pm and 6pm.

We are one of the few independent, accredited initial teacher training providers, regulated by Ofsted. We have worked with more than 175 partnership schools in and around the East Midlands. We are also one of the UK’s largest SCITTs and School Direct partners.

Hosting a trainee teacher can be very beneficial. Whilst there is a level of commitment required from a school – largely of staff time – the overall value to your school can significantly outweigh this. Trainees can make exceptional contributions to the school community; they often bring fresh ideas, they provide professional development opportunities for existing staff and they can provide extra capacity. During their training year you can teach the trainees about your school’s ethos and philosophy and you can develop trainees’ strengths in areas that will really benefit your school. Because you shape their training it is quite possible that you will want to recruit them once they have completed their initial year.

It is possible that you already have someone who works in your school or within your network who you may like to support through teacher training – perhaps a current teaching assistant or cover supervisor. If this is the case you may like to display the poster enclosed in this letter. If you would like to host a trainee but do not have anyone specific in mind we can help you to recruit a suitable person.

Please let us know if you intend to come along to the open day and/or meeting by emailing Katy Goldsmith – katygoldsmith@educate.co.uk. If you can’t make it on the day but have someone at your school who would like to attend they are most welcome. If you have any questions please call us on 01476 512793.
