It appears that teachers in the US share similar frustrations to teachers over here. The CEP surveyed school teachers to learn their views on the current state of the profession. The report entitled “Listen to Us; Teacher Views and Voices” summarises these findings and concludes that teachers are concerned and frustrated with shifting policies, over emphasis on student testing, and their lack of voice in decision making. One area that caught my eye was the effectiveness of feedback as it is a subject close to our hearts. The results set out below don’t make for good reading and I wonder what they would be in our schools in the UK. Managing student behaviour is an area where teachers felt underwhelmed by the feedback and it is an area that features in the reasons why teachers leave the profession.
